What’s your biggest question about Merseyside?
Hello readers — it’s now been around four years since we published our first story here at The Post, and throughout that time we’ve come up against some pretty interesting questions about what’s really going on in Merseyside.
From why so many of Liverpool’s taxis are registered in Wolverhampton, to whether Peel are really going to deliver on the lofty aims of Liverpool Waters, we’ve made it our mission to answer them.
But we know there are still lots of questions about Merseyside that haven’t been answered. When we surveyed our readers towards the end of last year, dozens of you came forward with things you think need a proper explanation.
Such as: why, despite all the money poured into street cleaning services, are our roads still so filthy? Will Steve Rotheram’s much-lauded barrage across the Mersey ever really happen? And just how are Sefton’s children’s services doing after they were found failing vulnerable children in 2022?
That’s why we’re launching a new format: Answers in The Post. Each week, we’ll take one big question and go as deep as we can to answer it. We’ll give you the truth — or as close as we can get.
You may have noticed us taking this format for a test drive over the last few weeks. There was our explainer about the metro mayor’s hydrogen buses, and our deep dive into why the council has been unable to spend £17 million in section 106 money.
The first official edition will launch this week, and we'd love for you to get stuck in and let us know what you think.
And we’d love to hear what questions you think we should be answering. If you’re a member — add one in the comments below. If not — click this link to submit your question to us.
We’ll be back tomorrow, with the first — official — instalment.
Thanks,
The Post team
