Nice piece to wake up to today. Thank you Abi. Quite interesting and not surprised that we have been robbed of these art pieces. There’s always some one who just wants to make money off someone else’s talent.
Nice article Abi. I loved the Love Plane mural and got to see it in place before it was removed. It is a shame that something Banksy did for the enjoyment of everybody was spoiled by the selfish greed of a few individuals.
How sad and predictable. Greed and capitalism ruin everything. You can have and do what you want if you have enough money and if you have nothing then screw you, we’ll take the picture from the wall outside your flat. I thought Channel 4 had a public service remit. How is The Greatest Auction fulfilling that? Remember when we were up in arms at the prospect of C4 being privatised?
Always remember the Love plane appearing, used to work in an office lookng out onto Rumford St, and one time when you looked out, it had suddenly appeared. Just as instantly, another time when I looked out, there was a bare patch and the Mural had been snatched. Do agree with the comments made in the article, and also on here, as to how exactly can you/do you decide that you can just simply hack a Mural off the wall of a building (surely an act of vandalism?) that's bad enough, but then to put it up for auction and sell it for millions? More so when the ownership issue isn't actually clear or proven. If it's true that the work was sold to somebody in Qatar (presumably with more money than they seem to know what to do with) then that just epitomises the very meaning of Avarice.
Rant over. Welcome to the Post, look forward to reading more interesting articles like this as opposed to the dishonest "Clicky" nonsense you were faced with in the past

This article summaries the epitome of the phrase “Why can’t we have nice things.”

I might be a bit of a divvy, but how do you take a painting on a wall and move it, without taking the wall as well??
Banksy must be the worlds worst (& most irritating) artist if that was supposed to be a rat.
Theft, plane and simple. At least Dick Turpin wore a mask!
