My teenage adventures with Scouse Springsteen
Melissa Blease takes a riotous journey down memory lane with Pete Wylie and The Mighty Wah!
Dear members — We hope you enjoyed that light dusting of snow yesterday! Quite magical for the few minutes it stuck around, wasn’t it?
Today we have an absolutely delightful personal essay-meets-concert-review from regular Post contributor Melissa Blease, who recently jumped at the chance to watch Pete Wylie and The Mighty Wah! open the Knowsley Music Festival at Prescot’s Shakespeare North Playhouse. The gig transported Melissa right back to an under-18s show at Eric’s in the late seventies, when she spotted pop icon Pete Wylie for the first time. That chance encounter led her, at all of 15 years old, to a flat Wylie was renting out on Penny Lane, where she had fantasies of living a grownup life of rock-n-roll…
Check out that incredible anecdote and much more in Melissa’s rollicking feature below.
