Garston has had the same MP for nearly three decades. Can the Liverpool Community Independents challenge that reign?
Dear members — with only one sleep to go until the big day, we’re sure most of you are already primed and ready with your best ballpoint pens to put a cross next to the name of your favoured candidate to be MP. For much of Merseyside, that choice will be the same as it has been for years: Labour.
But in some constituencies, dark horses have begun to emerge. One such is Garston, which for the last 26 years has been represented by Labour’s Maria Eagle. Now, a member of the Liverpool Community Independents plans to challenge her on that rather comfortable seat — and the bookies have started paying attention. Does Sam Gorst really have a chance?
