Dear members — you might recall our story from earlier this year about Kensington’s so-called king of cannabis and the conversation it inspired: is Gary Youds a villain? Is he a martyr? Or is he something else entirely?

When Jack Walton reported that story, Youds’ notorious weed cafe, the Chillin’ Rooms, had been closed to the public. This week, Ophira Gottlieb visits the newly reopened space. Youds, released from probation, is back at the helm, and smoking on the premises, whether cannabis or otherwise, is now strictly forbidden (except for vapers with a medical prescription).
