Dear members — “It’s a total f***ing mess” were the words of one local Labour official to us this week describing the fallout from the war in Gaza, which has caused huge divisions in the party. In her first piece for The Post, Lisa has spoken to a dozen Labour members and politicians around Liverpool, the sum total of which is a picture of a party at war with itself. In the words of one, a mentality of “you’re with us or you’re against us” has set in. But while other councils around the country have seen a number of senior Labour figures step down over the row — perhaps most notably in Burnley — so far Liverpool’s Labour Party hasn’t seen the same.
