You're invited to our festive ghost story special
We've even bagged a church for the occasion
Dear readers — What’s your favourite festive tradition? In The Post office we’re pretty fond of mince pies, or the open bar at the office party. But how about ghost stories?
Along with the industrial revolution thing, the Victorians also popularised Christmas as we know it now, from exchanging seasonal cards to telling spooky stories. Charles Dickens’ ‘A Christmas Carol’ led the way; it soon turned out the dark winter nights were the perfect backdrop for swapping tales to chill the bones and more writers followed.
So when we were considering what event we wanted to put on to mark the season, we thought: why not celebrate all things horror with one of Liverpool’s favourite literary sons? Festively, of course.
So on 12 December, The Post cordially invites you to the suitably gothic surroundings of St Michael-in-The-Hamlet Church to join our team and award-winning horror writer Ramsey Campbell for an evening of literature, Liverpool and scary tales.
We’ll be discussing Ramsey’s decades-long career as an internationally lauded writer, how Liverpool inspires him and his horror and why Christmas is such a strangely uneasy time of year. There will be refreshments, a Q&A and time for mingling with your fellow Post members.
Tickets are on sale now; they’re £6 for Post supporters with the discount code we sent out earlier this week, and £7 for non-members/readers. Please do bring along your family, friends and colleagues — we’d love to welcome as many people as possible. There’s a lot of pew space!
Click the button below to grab tickets; see you on 12 December!
