Evidence that there's good people out there: “We all have a civic duty to look after each other,” John says. “I have a duty with the skills I have to look out for people.”
What a terrible, damning and glaring example of just how cruel the benefits system really is. The whole system is designed to deceive and discourage claimants from actually receiving the benefits to which they are genuinely entitled. On a slightly different note, I had a similar experience when trying to access my work pension when I retired not so long back. I applied for my pension, received the forms, duly filled them all in, & returned them, then that's where the "fun" began, it took me nigh on 12 months of back and forth communications, completeing the same application form many times, and in each case, receiving a response from a different case officer, each time acknowledging they had received the form. I was fortunate, because I Had still retained my Trades Union Membership, so was able to enlist their help. Ironic enough, I actually applied for and imediately received my state pension without any hesitation, and this was during the pandemic
