I agree Anna, it’s a beautiful building and I would love to see it refurbished. My understanding is it’s a listed building so would need a massive injection of funds. Since our council appears to only plough money into failed investments it’s unlikely to ever be brought back to life.
Anna, Carolyn, anyone else out there who might be interested ........ Everton [Park & Library building] are Central, VITAL "ingredients" in one of the stories currently part-written on my desktop - stories written [mostly] for Children, each set in a different Liverpool park. Calderstones will (hopefully) be published before Christmas ... :)
Isn't this the sort of thing a commissioner should be making sure is avoided?
The city centre is abandoned to scruffs, drug dealing, consumption and other sorts of high impact crime, and this isn't at all unconnected with other Post articles lamenting the state of our local economy.
If they save this money (and make a £5m profit by the sounds of things) will they start answering the phone again?
Everton library is an intriguing looking building. Yet its in a desperately neglected, dilapidated state.

Is there any reason why they need to save £15m?
