Lies, smears and impunity at Blue Coat: Why did Liverpool’s top school cover up a scandal?
Exclusive: Police are investigating a senior teacher who was employed and promoted by one of the North’s top performing schools
For the past two months, The Post has been investigating a scandal at The Blue Coat School, one of Liverpool’s most revered institutions. Snippets of what has been going on at the school have made their way into the media over the years but today — after speaking to 18 sources, including teachers, students and parents — we can start to tell the full story.
Many of the details we are publishing today have never been reported before, including the revelation that the school’s former assistant head is now the subject of a live investigation by Merseyside Police, examining reports of what the force calls “historic sex offences”.
This is Part One of our investigation, and we have chosen to publish it outside of our paywall because we believe the story is in the public interest and should be read widely in the city. Part Two will be sent to our paying members tomorrow morning at 7am.
If you’re not subscribed already, you can join us now as a paying member to read that and support the future…
