Dear readers — a couple of weeks ago intrepid nightlife reporter Mollie Simpson told us she’d be coming here (she normally lives in Manchester — nobody’s perfect, I suppose) to go to Tom Odell’s gig at the Cavern Club, which inspired the idea of a nightlife edition. Odell is an indie singer so waifish that he looks like a strong breeze would carry him off into the night, never to be seen again. But he’s also an unlikely ally for those fighting in the Iranian revolution, something which is key to Mollie’s flatmate, who hails from Tehran.
