Liverpool-based writer Lynsey Hanley on class, belonging and new pastures
Dear members — today we’re publishing an interview by Mollie with the author Lynsey Hanley, who was born in Birmingham and has built a successful writing career in Liverpool. Hanley has written two compelling books about class, housing and the lives of those on council estates, influenced by her own upbringing on a vast estate in Birmingham, and is currently working on a study on the importance of public transport. In this piece, she explains why she feels ambivalently about social housing, and what the media often gets wrong about class.
