Tiny correction, Domingo Hindoyan is, of course, Chief Conductor of the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra rather than the London based Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. The accidental omission of a single word can make 200 miles difference. It's an easy mistake to make, not least given that the RLPO's previous principal conductor Vasily Petrenko now heads up its near namesake down south.
While I'm here, thanks for a year of good writing and real local journalism. Season's Greetings to all at The Post. May you continue to grow in the New Year - as a publication that is, not necessarily in terms of your combined waist size, although at this time of year that could outpace your subscriber count!
Will ammend David, thanks for pointing out. And Happy Christmas to you too - I'll limit myself to as many roast potatoes as we get new subscribers over the next two weeks I guess!
Firstly, happy Christmas to all at the Post - you have been a real bright spot on an otherwise miserable year.
Secondly, would it be possible to undertake an investigation into the non-appearance of the new trains? This is not to have a go at Steve Rotheram (an old mate and one of the few local politicians to have kept up his subscription to the human race), but to find out what on earth is going on and what can be done to rectify it.
I'd also be very interested in finding out what's happening with them. we keep being told vague answers in response to any questions raised during these articles, is it due to lack of staff, demarkation disputes (Who does what) or the lack of opportunities to train staff? At the moment, by the time these trains actually enter service, there will be newer, even more modern versions available, therefore leaving us facing the prospect of these "new" trains being obsolete before they even enter service or not too long after. Meanwhile they are currently serving a very useful purpose as ideal photographic backdrops whenever the Metro Mayor appears in the local press. Is there any truth in the rumours that they do actually exist outside of Kirkdale Sidings?
Good point. I’ve heard (maybe via the Post, but I don’t remember) it’s because they don’t have enough drivers trained to operate to new ones. I keep seeing them going up and down the Northern Line with Not in Service on the front. They look lovely from the outside.

Best wishes to all at the Post. Keep doing what you’re doing and here’s to 2023.
Cheers Rob, happy Christmas!
