My daughter Nat is a New York based editor working in a very different environment but has herself been at the sharp end of the cull of excellent journalists. I’ve gifted her a subscription to the Post to keep her in touch with her Scouse roots. Keep up the good work!
Thanks Karen — how cool that Nat and I have taken similar journeys in reverse! I’m so glad to hear she’s keeping up with goings on back home with us. We really appreciate your support!
I know when “ the post “ pops up in my inbox, I’ve got some proper reporting to look forward to. Far removed from the usual click based journalism that’s tends to be prevalent in other media outlets
Great to read your personal story – and great that you are enjoying life in Liverpool. We are of course a city built by immigrants over more than 300 years although most of the American traffic went in the opposite direction.
All the best to you and the team for 2025, and BTW if Gus ever fancies a walk round Crosby marine lake would he like to take a couple of humans? He wouldn't need to put us on a lead, but he might need one for part of the walk!
Thanks so much to you and colleagues for keeping us informed, aware, entertained, and - when appropriate - bloody angry!
Reading the latest from Carole Cadwalladr makes one realise how precarious is the state (economic and ethical) even of titles like The Guardian and Observer. I rely on you and The Skwawkbox et al for some clarity and humanity.
It comes to something when Israeli publications like Haaretz take a more principled stand on genocide than our country's so-called liberal media.
Thank you and the team for an entertaining, informative and educational year of excellent journalism. Well worth every penny I spend on it. It was nice to read your journey to our great melting pot of a city. Long may you, the team and the post go on. I await great things in 2025.
Hi Shannon - thank you and your team for a year of quality journalism. Deserved awards - the indepth deep dive reporting is so readable - the hours of investigation plain to see. Also nice to see the human side behind the name - thanks for sharing- maybe a piece by Abi and Laurence on their backstory and journey - great writers- keep up the good work editing. Always look forward to The Post and its next exposee.
It is good to see a photo of a Happy New Year line up of the smart young people that have been providing old timers like myself with no-nonsense, in-depth information on the many genuinely relevant events other run-of-the-mill rags did not have the guts to report. Keep up the good work in 2025. Speaking of the new year, I am looking forward to another one on 29th this month.
Shannon - Thanks for sharing your experience and to you and your colleagues at The Post for stories and views that amuse, enlighten and annoy me in the way that good journalism should. The withering away of serious news reporting and the demise of strong regional journalism is incredibly sad and significant and The Post is a very welcome response. I hope you can convince many more readers to join as paying subscribers in 2025.
Lovely piece to end the year Shannon.

Thanks so much Ken! I’m sure Gus would love that :)
Brilliant.

Thanks to everyone at the Post. I hope the new year is a good one for you all
Keep up the good work, particularly, for me, on the Councils’ and the LCR’s planning for housing, transport, etc and its implementation by whomever.
Thanks Richard — will do.
